Welcome!!!!

Hey guys, my name is Emily, and I was born and raised in the Bronx.  Next year I am going to SUNY Binghamton, where I plan to stuy special education, and one day I plan to teach in a children's hospital.

I have always loved reading, a trait I inherited from my mother, an English teacher.  My mother, always the teacher, had taught me to read basic English when I was 2.  So, thank you Mum, I love you <3.

I always wanted top write to, as I am excellent at making up stories (just ask my friends who I tell made up stories to just for fun lol).  However, I never really wrote anything to his year because I thought people would laugh at me.  Then I foun out my friend Shabana was writing a novel, so essentially, her hard work inspired me to start writing.  It is amazing that I never realizd how mnay of my friends actually wrote until I considered starting to write.  My attempts at writing haven't gotten very far, butI hope to spend more time on it over the summer, and will post some of it for everyone to read.

15 August 2008

Less than one week left.  Its hard to imagine that I have only lived in one place my entire life and in less than one week I will be leaving it all behind.  I was spo excited to go, but now I want nothing more than to stay.  It all seems so quick, and I wonder why I decided to go in the first place.  My life is here, my friends are here, my family is here.  Don't get me wrong, I am excited to be out on my own, but i can't help but feel a little morose.

The lyrics aren't my story completely.  I've never been to Liverpool or California, but the last verse definitely fits what I feel.

Farewell to you my own true love
I am going far away
I am bound for California
But I know that I'll return some day

So fare thee well me own true love
And when I return united we will be
It's no the leaving of Liverpool that grieves me
But me darling when I think of thee.

I have signed on a Yankee sailing ship
Davy Crockett is her name
And Burgess is the captain of her
And they say she is a floating shame

So fare thee well me own true love
aAd when I return united we will be
It's no the leaving of Liverpool that grieves me
But me darling when I think of thee.

I have sailed with Burgess once before
And i think I know him right well
If a man is a sailor he can get along
If not, he is surely in hell

So fare thee well me own true love
And when I return united we will be
It's no the leaving of Liverpool that grieves me
But me darling when I think of thee.

Oh, the sun shines harbor love
And I wish I could remain
For I know it will be some long time
Before I will ever see you again

So fare thee well me own true love
And when I return united we will be
It's no the leaving of Liverpool that grieves me
But me darling when I think of thee.

20 July 2008

Well, my week/weekend was sort of crazy.  I had orientation at Binghamton, and I am now pretty excited to start school there.  They offer so much, and the town caters mostly to the students.  Lots of freebies and discounts!!!!!  And as a point of interest to the Novelitas, the first weekend of school, we have Universityfest, which is mostly a party, but one of the local bookstores leaves a tent full of free novels!!! And, there is a local bookstore, which competes with the university bookstore, and in order to lure us students there, they send a limo around campus to pick students up.

I also made my schedule for the Fall semester.  Its pretty good; Tuesdays and Thursdays are relatively easy.  The only bummer...Spanish EVERY morning at 8:30AM.  Whomp Whomp Whomp.  Also, I am considering playing rugby in the fall.  Random, I know.

Finally, I still haven't gotten to work on my novel.  I think about it alot and have worked some of it out in my head, but none of it is written down.  Hopefully this week I'll have some time to get started.  I am really excited about it!

Finally, I came up with a topic I think I can stick with writing.  It's a love story (of course) about a girl from England who is half-English, half-Irish and a man from Northern Ireland who is suspected to have ties to the IRA.  The girl, Ailish, moves to Ireland when she is 18 because she feels more of a connection with her Irish heritage and lives with her aunt and uncle.  The man, Hamish, was married at age 18, but his wife died when he was twenty, because of a squirmish at a road-side check with the RUC.  However, his sister and brother-in-law also die because of the troubles in the north, leaving Hamish to care for his young nephews and neice.  Ailish then enters the picture as their nanny.  The rest is still unsure...Accepting any input at this time =)

Well, I haven't written in a while, but this was a busy week. Work, although tedious, is great.  Ilove my co-workers,they make my job super fun =)  But, Ialso got to spend soo much time with my fellow novelitas.   We officially graduated high school on July 1st!!!!! Woot Woot.  We then went downtown to our traditional spot (Chinatown) and then to Union Square (where Igot Jamba Juice with Tia =) )
Friday was my Luau.  Who ever thought Cool Whip could be soo entertaining.  Thanks Melly.  And then there was Tanique's party.  Good times, with a mini group consouling session lol

Okay, so I really didn't plan on blogging everyday, but it just turned out this way.  But, i wanted to let everyone know luck did come my way.  No, I didn't hit the lotto and my family isn't going on a cruise around the world, but luck came.  It's not the usual form of luck, but I was given hope today =).

21 June 2008
Today, I went to the Sari Bazaar for Ancy's (VOID) Church.  First, of course, it was so nice to finally see Ancy again, but I promised to lend her five books, which I forgot at home.  My apologies Ancy!!!!  I feel soo badly, I had them all organized and put neatly in a bag already for Ancy to read, but now they sit on the floor of my room. ='(
Well, at the Bazaar, I bought a peasant shirt.  It's so pretty, and I am already trying to decide when to wear it.  It's white cotton and comes to just above my knee.  It has slits on the side that go from my waist to the bottom.  AND, it has the prettiest embrodiery on it.  It's mostly pink flowers, but, as Ancy so kindly pointed out, there is a hint of green.  =)
Finally, members of Ancy's church just returned from China and brought with them jewelry to sell at the Bazaar.  While most of the bracelets were jade, there were some red.  And for those who took the time to read my "Facts about Fire", you know that Fire is represented by red, and red is a color of extreme luck.  So, as you have all already guessed, I bought a red bracelet.  Sitting here, waiting for the luck to kick in...lol.  Well anyway, i'll keep you posted on any luck that comes my way.
BTW, My aunt checked out our site, and if she was our age, I think she would totally join.  She said she still has a list of all the books she read in high school, and one year she read ovewr 100 books.  She is going to get the list and I am going to put it on a sub page titled "Books Teens Enjoyed During the Stone Age".  (...And this is just one of the many reasons I will be named neice of the year...)

Well, I completely did away with that last blog sorry =(.  I just couldn't regain my thought process on it.

But last night, I came home and found out that the original 8 Novelitas are to be "The Elements" and we each are to pick an element to represent us.  Naturally, I picked fire.  Why you might ask.  Because of my hair I respond.  Apparently, that was quite predictable because Shabana had me all figured out.

Random Facts about my hair:
-I was born with red hair
-I have NEVER dyed my hair
-Last year, I did NOT get a weave, I only straightened my curly hair.
-No, I too have difficulty classifying my hair color.
-My passport states that my hair is RED.
-My hair was blonde for a period of time, but I never dyed it.  It was all natural due to the sun.  (My aunt thought I should add this fact)
