Non-hobbies

I'm not an anime/manga otaku - far from it actually, but when I find a manga or anime that hooks me, I'll exploit that obsession as far as it will go through the actual medium itself or fanfiction. This is a medium that, if I were to count, probably spans over a 100 books in and of itself that I've read, hence why it's being included on this site. Much of what I read, however, is classified as shoujo (girl-oriented), but what I watch is typically shounen (boy-oriented). Being pretty sheltered, I did not realize as a young-un that much of what I watched was classified under Japanese animation. The comic books were easier to identify, however - their animation was nothing like Superman, Batman, Spiderman, etc.

My first manga? - Dragonball by Akira Toriyama (and it was my brother's too! I made sure of it! He started earlier than I did though, at age 8! ~.~)
My first anime? - Honestly, it was probably Sonic the Hedgehog, but, consciously knowing it was an anime? I'd have to say that it's tied between Zoids, One Piece, Yu Yu Hakusho and Dragonball Z. They were all airing in the US at the same time on Cartoon Network.
